Public Pool Crawl

Durational performance. 2018 - Present.

Inspired by John Cheever’s short story The Swimmer, 79 Pools is an ongoing project where I attempt to swim across all 79 outdoor public swimming pools in the 5 boroughs of New York City. In response to NYC Parks & Recreation’s pool deck limitations, this project is documented through a series of 5 punch cards (one for each borough) and ephemeral evidence taken from each site such as paint samples from the bottom of the pool, overheard conversations, and pH test strips.
