Color Swap

Event and installation, 2024.

Color Swap was a public clothing swap event at Lloyd Center Mall that invited people to bring colors of clothing they were tired of to exchange for new colors that better suited them in this moment. Participants placed their old clothes in a pile in the center of the space and we worked together to sort the colors into a color wheel that wrapped around the space, and then the clothing swap began. In addition to the communal dress up happening in the space, there were also paper prompts clipped onto a laundry line that spanned the walls of the storefront where participants could hang up found clothing in response, making temporary color field installations with clothes. A live screenprinting station run by Caryn Aasness, Matt Balk, and Willakana was also available where participants could get their new wares screenprinted with Assembly logos.
